PVC Deck Cost Calculator
PVC decking (cellular vinyl boards such as TimberTech AZEK) costs about $52.20–$66.70 per square foot installed on a standard deck with railings and one stair — the top of the synthetic range, above composite. Enter the deck size and the board line to see the linear feet of decking, what the boards alone cost at 2026 prices, the installed range, and what the same boards would cost in three composite lines.

Worked example: a 12 × 16 ft PVC deck
| Step | Working | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Rows | 12 ft × 12 = 144 in ÷ 5.75 in, rounded up | 26 rows |
| Linear feet | 26 rows × 16 ft × 1.10 waste | 458 lin ft |
| Boards (AZEK Harvest) | 458 × $5.28 | $2,416 |
| Installed | 192 sq ft × $58 × 0.90–1.15 | $10,022 – $12,806 |

Prices are starting prices per linear foot from Advantage Lumber's 2026 price guide (September 2026). HomeAdvisor (June 2026) gives $5–$15 per square foot for PVC decking material: the entry Harvest line lands inside that band, and the premium lines run a little above it once the board gap and 10% cut waste are counted.

PVC or composite?
- PVC has no wood fibre: it's lighter, won't swell or grow mould inside the board, and suits pool surrounds and docks. It costs more and expands more with heat, so gaps at butt joints matter.
- Capped composite is heavier and cheaper per foot, and the premium lines overlap PVC on price.
Compare the two on your own deck with the composite deck cost calculator or the Trex decking calculator, and count fasteners with the deck fastener calculator. For every material side by side, use the deck cost calculator.

Frequently asked questions
- How much does a PVC deck cost per square foot?
- About $52.20–$66.70 per square foot installed for a standard deck with railings and one stair, on this site's deck cost model. The PVC boards alone run about $5 to $15 per square foot of deck (HomeAdvisor, June 2026); at TimberTech AZEK's Harvest starting price of $5.28 per linear foot that works out to roughly $12.60 per square foot once you allow for the gap and 10% waste.
- How much does a 12x16 PVC deck cost?
- A 12 × 16 ft deck is 192 sq ft, so about $10,022–$12,806 installed. The boards for it — 26 rows of 16 ft, 458 linear feet with 10% waste — cost about $2,420 in AZEK Harvest and $3,510 in AZEK Vintage.
- Is PVC decking more expensive than composite?
- Yes, line for line. On the same price list (Advantage Lumber, September 2026) AZEK's entry PVC line, Harvest, starts at $5.28 per linear foot, against $3.43 for TimberTech Prime+ composite and $4.45 for Trex Select. Premium lines overlap: Trex Transcend is $7.15 and AZEK Vintage $7.68. PVC has no wood fibre, so it is lighter, stays cooler in some colours and won't swell or grow mould inside the board.
- Is vinyl decking the same as PVC decking?
- Mostly. "Vinyl decking" is used for two things: solid cellular PVC boards like AZEK, which this calculator prices, and thin vinyl membranes glued over plywood on balconies and roof decks. A membrane is priced per square foot of surface by the installer and isn't a board product, so it isn't on this calculator.
- How many linear feet of PVC decking do I need?
- Divide the deck width in inches by 5.75 (a 5.5 in board plus its gap) and round up to get the rows, then multiply by the length of each run and add 10% for cut waste. A 12 ft wide deck needs 26 rows; at 16 ft long that's 416 linear feet, or 458 with waste.
